PvP Battle Guide: Master Turn-Based Combat

Suikamon PvP is a turn-based, rock-paper-scissors battle system with a strategic twist. Learn how Attack, Magic, Recover and Dodge interact, how elemental advantage works, and how to chain special effects into winning combos.

Every Suikamon battle is turn-based: both trainers secretly pick one of four actions each turn, then the moves resolve simultaneously. Battles are free to play in all modes, so you can practice as much as you want.

The Four Actions

  • Attack — deals physical damage with a species-specific combo effect. Loses to Dodge.
  • Magic — deals elemental damage with a special effect (stun, bleed, burn, wound, shield, or drain). Beats Dodge for full damage.
  • Recover — heals your Suikamon, but leaves you open to Attack. Has a limited number of uses per battle.
  • Dodge — evades and counters Attacks, but Magic punches through it for full damage.

Elemental Advantage (+15 Magic Damage)

  • Fire beats Nature
  • Nature beats Thunder
  • Thunder beats Water
  • Water beats Fire

Combo Sequencing

Smart sequencing separates good trainers from button-mashers. Most species have a Magic move that applies an effect (stun, bleed, burn, wound) and an Attack that exploits that effect for bonus damage. Landing the setup move first, then following with the exploit, can nearly double your output.
