Book One Walkthrough — The Purple Egg, Chapters 1-3
A purple egg by the stream, Gran's big green book, and a gate that will not open: the first three chapters of Book One, who you battle in each, and how to win them.
Book One, The Purple Egg, is where the story campaign starts. You are Kai (until you pick your own name), and you are meant to be getting firewood. Instead you fall out of a tree and find an egg that is purple, not white like most eggs. Across the stream, the grass has gone gray.
Chapter 1: the purple egg
The egg hatches in your hands, and your new Suikamon's first battle comes on the way home: a wild Kobu, scared by the Gray, blocks the path. It is one Suikamon against yours, and it doubles as the battle lesson: the game shows you the four moves, attack, magic, dodge and recover, and your hand of cards.

Chapter 2: Gran's big book
Timmy from next door wants two practice battles, one with his chick Chirpy and one with his bunny Mossling. Between them, Gran reads you the story of the Heart, the stone of light that broke into nineteen lost lights, and of the nineteen purple eggs. Then a hungry Gorly crashes through her fence.
Chapter 3: the gate to the Gray Forest
Cliff guards the gate with his grumpy Pikoto, and he will not open it. Win his practice battle by watching before you call. Then a little Ray needs rescuing from a broken bridge, and a frightened wild Fernail stands in the way. Leave it a way out.
How to be ready
- Battle XP goes to your whole squad, not just the Suikamon that fought
- Watch the rival's move, not just your own. Dodge beats attack, and a recover at the wrong moment is a free hit for them
- Read your hand before you commit. A pair of the same card wins ties and hits harder; the Battle Cards page lists what every card does
- Come back daily. A rival challenge resets every day and pays XP
Chapters 1-3 are open now. The rest of Book One, where the cart with the black Z is going, is still being written.
